Czech Hydrometeorological Institute – project: CLIDATA

CLIDATA, a database app created by the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute, is made to process and check climatological data, and prepare essential climate products and records for further processing. The app is accessible to national meteorological services in developing countries and members of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO). Since 2000, the app has been shared around the world in cooperation with the WMO.

Cotton made in Africa

Thanks to a textile industry’s growing demand for sustainable cotton certified as Cotton made in Africa, over 50 million of textile products have reached the market. The demand for CmiA certified cotton textiles does not come only from large fashion chains but also small local brands. CmiA, currently the largest company for sustainable cotton in Africa, certifies up to 30% of cotton production in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Mars and its famous M&M’s pledged to invest one billion US dollars into reducing greenhouse gases produced by its supply chain by 67% by 2050. As part of its “sustainable generation“ policy, Mars plans to invest in renewable energy, sustainable consumption, interdisciplinary cooperation and support of sustainable agriculture.

In reaction to #CleanSeas, the UN environmental campaign, Indonesia pledged to reduce plastic pollution by 70% by 2025. This commitment is a big step forward in reduction of over eight million tons of plastic waste that ends up in the oceans every year. However, the abundance of plastic is not only an Indonesian issue. North American and European countries use up to five times more plastic per person than people in Asia.

Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters in all countries

Integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning

Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning

Implement the commitment undertaken by developed-country parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to a goal of mobilizing jointly $100 billion annually by 2020 from all sources to address the needs of developing countries in the context of meaningful mitigation actions and transparency on implementation and fully operationalize the Green Climate Fund through its capitalization as soon as possible

Promote mechanisms for raising capacity for effective climate change-related planning and management in least developed countries and small island developing States, including focusing on women, youth and local and marginalized communities


Share posts instead of only liking them. When you come across an interesting post on women’s rights or climate change on social media, share it with your friends and family.

Do a small research online and buy products only from brands that use sustainable processes and do not harm the environment.

Compost at home. Composting your own organic waste helps reducing negative impacts on the environment and recycling organic nutrients.

Maintain your car regularly to protect the environment from toxic emissions.

Speak up in public! Ask your local and national representatives to join planet-friendly initiatives. You can express your support of the Paris Agreement and demand your country’s ratification if it is not yet in place.
