Internet of Things (IoT): How new technologies reduce CO2

The Internet of Things (IoT) is an innovative technology which connects devices and sensors to each other and their surroundings via internet. The IoT is quietly fighting the CO2 emissions by making the industries and infrastructure more energy-effective (SDG 9), reducing source consumption in cities (SDG 11) and helping the world to fight greenhouse gases in an innovative way (SDG 13). The invisible warrior called “Smart“ helped Vodafone to save 5,165 tons of CO2 last year. That is sixteen times more than two years ago, equal to the amount of emissions that would be produced by 538 cars going around the whole world.
