Business

The SDGs clearly call for the involvement of every single business to contribute to the solution of sustainable development challenges in creative and innovative ways. SDGs represent an opportunity for large global companies as well as small and medium regional enterprises, to show how they can actively fulfil the principles of sustainable development in their businesses activities.

Public sector

The sustainable development agenda applies not only to the business sector but to all of us, the general public, as well as to non-commercial actors that are welcome to demonstrate their commitment to fulfilling the SDGs. We invite all NGOs, public sector organisations, schools and other institutions to submit their sustainable projects.

Young Leader

Our future is being created by a younger generation, gradually taking the lead and setting the direction of our society. This category recognizes those who are creating a better world through innovative and sustainable projects and who have achieved remarkable results in the field of sustainable development before the age of 30. We believe these individuals deserve our full attention. This award is given in partnership with Forbes Czech Republic.

Reporting

The HSBC Navigator survey, conducted using a sample of nine thousand companies, showed that 63% of companies are aware of the importance of their role in achieving SDGs. Not only companies but also other organizations around the world and in the Czech Republic are gradually changing their business models to meet social needs and incorporate SDGs in their sustainability strategy as well as non-financial reports. We are looking for such reports – the best sustainability reports for 2018/2019 that reflect SDGs.

Climate Change

In recent months, our society has been increasingly focused on the issues of climate change and the future of our planet. Whether or not the discussion was initiated by the young activist Greta Thunberg, one thing is for sure. Recent scientific research has revealed a climate crisis which is escalating in its scope. Our planet is changing. The climate is changing as well. We can no longer close our eyes. Society urgently needs change. And in this year’s SDGs Awards we are looking for innovative projects which will deliver this change in fighting the climate crisis and mitigating its impact. This year, the winner of the climate change category will be selected by the general public in a public vote.

International Development Aid

The Czech Development Agency Award is intended to honor a significant contribution to the SDGs and the goals and principles of international development aid. The award is open to nominees from the business category, NGOs, academic and research sectors, cities and municipalities. It is awarded for innovative contributions in the field of global sustainable development, created through close cooperation of two entities – one from the Czech Republic and the other from a developing country.
